Burners Without Borders Supports Stepping Stones Garden

BWB is funding the garden program at Stepping Stones in Mochudi, Botswana to the tune of $500.  Five hundred bucks may not seem like a lot, but for an organization such as Stepping Stones that has quite a tight budget, it makes all the difference between a sparse permaculture garden and a jam up- will grow for years- food-producing mini forest.  What a relief.  There’s only so many free loads of kraal manure that will satisfy a food garden before the plants start crying for shade from the southern African sun.  Now we can put up some shade to give the plants some relief and repair the fence to keep out the neighboring chickens.  The universe just gave us a big ol wink.

Having the support of BWB to give small grants to the projects I work on is a blessing.  A small amount of money goes a long way in this part of the world and the ease of receiving financial support for the projects I’m involved with does wonders for my soul compared to the headaches and pains of grant proposals from many other grant-giving institutions.  Ahhh…. it doesn’t have to be so hard.  People DO care and they know how to make it easy.  Then again, leave it to the burning man community to know how to get things done.  BIG smile.
